For my first project I'm going to make the Grrlfriend Market Bag.
Yarn: I have decided to up-cycle my own from shopping bags.
Needles: She uses so many, I'll just stick with my only reasonable sized double pointed needles and use 8.
Progress:
As you may be able to see, there is a random row of purled stitches because I messed up but oh well.

It's so cool that your using old shopping bags to make it. I can't wait to see it done
i love this! what a great idea... once i get one of my sweaters are out of the way i might just give this a go.
that looks awesome. I've made plastic yarn before, but it was for a friend to knit with. Haven't actually gotten to knit with it myself!
With it being a bag, the mix up won't matter in the least. I've often thought of doing this, but somehow have never gotten around to it. Think I would use circulars though instead of DP's, won't you quickly run out of room on your needles?
This is very cool - will definately come back to see what the finished bag looks like.
So cool! I've got a ton of plastic bags myself. I should put them to good use.
I like the purl row :-) I need to knit a plastic bag swatch now to feel the texture created. Great idea x
@ Sandy, I had to use DP's in the beginning because I started out with 7 stitches, but now I have 100 (whew!) so I have to use a circular.
Very unique project idea----looking forward to seeing it completed!

Interesting! I'll be watching to see how it works out as well!
Great bag and great choice of fiber!
It looks fab, love the way the text from the bags gives little specks of red
I really love this idea, since my cabinets are loaded with these things and i never get them to the recycling area.
off to play with plastic....
Very cool! I worry the squeak of plastic on plastic would drive me nuts.
